| FEATURE WINNER APRIL 7, 2012 No it wasn't Jimbo in the #16 Super Stock. It was 5 year old J.D. DeVitt - winner of the Big Wheel Race at Saturday night's special feature races for kids on bikes! Congratulations J.D. looks like racing is in his blood. |
| What a Difference Two Weeks Makes! April 21, 2012 It was a great night of racing for the #16 Captain Hook Classic Super Stock. While the beginning was a little shaky, the ending was met with success. Questionable weather in the area saw the #16 arrive late at the track....so late, the team missed all hot lap sessions and qualifying. Non-qualifiers take up tail end of the fast heat. That seated Jimbo fifth in the event. Without any prior practice, he chose to use the session for testing and finished where he started. The feature was a different story! The heat left Jimbo starting the race in 9th place. But many a good run has seen Jimbo start at the back and finish in the front. Saturday night proved to be another of those nights! The race went for 16 green flag laps. In an unusual twist, the #16 suddenly loves long green runs. Jimbo rode in 6th place for several laps then slowly reeled in two more spots. When the caution came out at lap 16, he was seated in 3rd. The green flag dropped, Okie Mason in the #14 shot out like a cannon and Jimbo followed behind. The car settled in at second and that's how we finished. After the struggles of two weeks ago, this was one of those times when second place felt as good as first. We brought home a trophy and all was well. Congrats to Okie Mason on his first place win. As Jimbo told him in victory lane, if we had to lose to anybody, he was happy it was Okie. Look for us again May 12th, the next Super Stock race at MIS. Thanks again to sponsor, Captain Hook Classic for their support in 2012! |
